Save Social Media Posts Where You’ll Find Them

Where to save photos and videos from social media and messenger posts to rewatch them: Share → Spohad, the Inbox folder, and a feed instead of a chat.

Where do you save social media posts so you can come back to them? One day I was scrolling a social network and came across a post where a person asked for exactly this: make an app where I can conveniently drop posts from messengers and social networks, so I can calmly rewatch them later. And I thought: but that is Spohad. It fits perfectly into what I am doing.

Why doesn’t “Saved Messages” work?

Many people have a chat with themselves, “Saved Messages.” Everything that caught their eye gets forwarded there. A recipe. A set of exercises. A video of how to fold a T-shirt in two seconds. A photo of someone’s kitchen you want to copy. A screenshot of advice that will definitely come in handy.

A year later there are thousands of messages. Rewatching them is impossible: it is a conversation, not an album. You have to scroll up, up, up, and the T-shirt video drowns between a link to an article and a voice note to yourself. Saved, and lost.

How do you save a video from a messenger to Spohad?

Spohad has an entrance for everything that comes from outside. It is the Inbox.

You see a post with a useful video or photo, tap “Share,” and choose Spohad. The file lands in the Inbox. It is a real folder: you can see it in the Files app, and inside Spohad it stands as a separate shelf in Sort.

This way you can save videos, photos and files from any app that has a Share button. Even if you sent several at once, they all arrive. And a file can also be dragged into Spohad or opened in it through “Open in…”, and it lands in the same place. One route for everything that comes from outside.

What exactly gets saved

Files: photos, videos, documents. Spohad does not take the post’s text or links; only files that can be sorted lie in the Inbox. If the text matters too, you can dictate it into the frame’s description when you sort.

Rewatching saved posts

As a feed. The Inbox is not just another dump. You open it and see what was sent one by one, on the full screen. A vertical video plays vertically, the same as when you saw it in the post. You can rewatch, remember why you saved it, and decide:

  • exercises: to Recall, and set a rhythm: show every day until it becomes a habit;
  • a funny video with a friend: to Memories;
  • advice you have already used: to the Trash, it has done its job.

Nothing is applied right away: decisions wait until you press Save. How showing rhythms work is in Screenshots and saved videos on iPhone: how to go back.

On a shelf, not in a chat

The difference is one thing: in Saved Messages, saved things live in a conversation. In Spohad, on a shelf.

A month later you look for that T-shirt video. In Saved Messages you would scroll thousands of messages. In Spohad you gave it a name when you sorted the Inbox, “T-shirt, fold,” and search finds it at once. How to caption in seconds is in How to find a photo on your iPhone fast.

Quick guide: how to save posts so you come back to them

  1. On a post with a video or photo, tap “Share” and choose Spohad.
  2. The file lands in the Inbox folder.
  3. In the evening open the Inbox in Sort and scroll it as a feed.
  4. What you need goes to Recall with a showing rhythm, what is dear to Memories, what has served its purpose to the Trash.
  5. Give the important ones a name so search can find them. And press Save.

A thousand reposts

Now I don’t need to forward a thousand messages to myself. It is enough to drop them into Spohad. And in the evening scroll the Inbox and put everything in its place, like an ordinary evening instead of social media.

Saved things stop getting lost. They become again what they were saved for. See what the feed looks like on the home page.
